How does one become a vet?

Like doctors, veterinarians are required to go to a school through which they learn their craft and become accredited in their chosen field, namely veterinary medicine. Veterinary medicine schools can be competitive to gain entry into, however not nearly as competitive as those which cater to doctors. In total, become a veterinarian requires approximately 8 years of undergraduate and graduate training. This can be quite expensive, although like with all schooling, there are ways to keep your costs at a minimum. Most graduate programs will require 60 undergraduate credits in the fields of biology, mathematics and chemistry. Veterinary medicine requires a wide range of education dealing with all sorts of varying species. Whereas a doctor really only needs to know who to treat humans, veterinarians need to know how to be able to treat dogs, cats, birds, etc.
